Moliets is well known for its golf course (one of the top ten courses in France), and the beach is famous as one of the best surfing destinations in Europe. There are footpaths and dedicated cycle trails through the vast pine forest, and a nature reserve at the Courant d'Huchet, which runs from Leon to the sea just north of Moliets.
Further afield, Hossegor (30 km south) is renowned for its world class surfing; as is the elegant town of Biarritz. Also within easy reach are the stunning Pyrenees, and the Spanish splendour of San Sebastian. To the north are the Arcachon basin, Bordeaux and the wine producing areas.
